Students at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College are fortunate to have a working farm as part of their school life and studies. The school’s staff and students are passionate about local produce, sustainability and the mission to reduce “food miles”. They also wish to add value to the products that they produce at school including beef, lamb and pork, together with flowers and vegetables.
To help achieve this end the school was delighted to receive funding from the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust to convert an outbuilding into a Farm Shop, selling purely Kentish produce, with an emphasis on foodstuffs produced at Brockhill. The project included a range of cross-curricular activity for students, including design of the shop sign and layout, production of a local history guide, rural-themed artwork displayed on the walls and market research into demand for products to be stocked.
