Community
The Village Hall in Hougham is a focal point for the local community who use the venue for fetes, children’s parties, musical evenings and much more.
It was agreed in 2017 that the building required a full refurbishment, not only to update the 1970s/80s interior, but also to improve accessibility for disabled people and the elderly. The hall needed to be completely reconfigured inside and plans included a new kitchen and toilet facilities, new flooring, lighting improvements and painting and decorating. Roofwork would also be undertaken.
The total cost of the project was estimated at £50,000 and the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust donated £5,000 towards it. This was match funded, as well as added to by funds raised by people from the village. Work commenced in September 2020 for completion in December 2020.
