The Rainbow Centre delivers a range of services in Folkestone to provide support to individuals and families experiencing deprivation or hardship. One such service is Money Matters, Folkestone (MMF), which is a partnership between Rainbow Centre and Citizens Advice. MMF identifies and supports individuals and families who have found themselves faced with unmanageable debt.

MMF supports clients in managing their finances by engaging them with a Money Advisor (from Citizens Advice) who is trained and authorised to give financial advice, and a volunteer mentor who is trained and supported by the Rainbow Centre. A Money Advice Plan is agreed with the client. The Rainbow Centre’s dedicated volunteer mentor supports the client to help complete their Money Advice Plan. In addition, we undertake an assessment of wellbeing for each client at the beginning and end of the programme to measure improvement.

The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust awarded funds to the Rainbow Centre so it can fund a part-time Money Advisor and a volunteer coordinator who oversees the recruitment, training, management and support of our money mentors for the MMF service.
