Local Performer To Shine on TV

A young singer and dancer from Hythe will appear on prime time television on Saturday 21 January in “Let it Shine”, currently part of BBC1’s Saturday night schedule. The programme features young performers who compete for a place to be part of a forthcoming west end stage show that will be based around the music of group “Take That”.
Aaron (“AJ”) Bentley studied at Brockhill Park Performing Arts College and performed with Instep Dance Company, before embarking upon a BA in Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. AJ received a grant from the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust’s Creative Arts Bursary fund, designed to help those studying on higher education courses in performing arts to meet their costs. The bursary scheme ran from 2010 to 2016 and helped nearly thirty students living or studying in the Folkestone area.
AJ says he has always been keen on dance and music, and admires the likes of Robbie Williams, Take That and Olly Murs, amongst others. He has performed all over London and the south east with his own band, and jumped at the chance to be part of this peak time television programme and the exposure that it will bring, appearing in front of judges including Gary Barlow and a TV audience of millions.
The programme airs at 7pm on Saturday 21 January on BBC1.
