Help lonely and isolated people in 2023

Do you want to make a difference in 2023? Why not support lonely and socially isolated people in our local community? The Caring Altogether on Romney Marsh (CARM) charity, which received £5000 funding from Roger De Haan Charitable Trust in 2022, is looking for volunteers for its befriending service
Helen Mattock, Manager of CARM said: “We have 20 people on the waiting list for our befriending service at the moment, so we really need more volunteers to come forward. The new year is a great time to make that extra thought for others. Spending just one hour a week with someone chatting over a cup of tea and biscuits really does make a huge difference to their lives. You can even do it over the phone.”
People who volunteer as ‘friends’ have said:

To find out more about the befriending service and how you can get involved, visit the CARM website. Volunteers must be over 18 and applications are via a form on the website. You will have to provide references and all volunteers are DBS checked. Full training and ongoing support is provided.
