The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust is again supporting the popular Folkestone Coastal 10 kilometre run which takes place on 25 May 2014. Last year’s race was a great success, with 650 runners participating, raising £38,000 for good causes that benefit the local community.

The 2014 race will start from the former Rotunda Site on Folkestone seafront at 10am, and a children’s race will take place prior to the main event. The race route heads along the seafront to Hythe, and then returns, taking in the beautiful coastal scenery and providing a flat, traffic free route along the promenade. It’s a great race for those who are relatively new to running, and also for more experienced runners trying for a good personal best. It is hoped that the event will raise plenty of money to support local and international charitable causes, and participants are encouraged to run for their chosen charity. Race Organiser Ray Johnson comments: “This is an exciting project for Folkestone that will encourage people to come to Shepway, enjoy the facilities with a mainly seafront run and further assist charitable concerns. The event for this year already has 40 runners registered and will be limited to 1,000. We are hoping for tremendous support from the crowds, and have already received positive feedback from experienced runners who cannot wait to participate, particularly due to the distance that is within many runners’ reach.”
