Youth Festival of Remembrance to Commemorate Battle of Britain
Categories:Community | Education And Young People
This year’s Youth Festival of Remembrance will take place on Saturday 7 November at Folkestone’s Leas Cliff Hall, thanks to the allocation of a “free use” community day by Shepway District Council.
This will be the 6th consecutive year that the event has been held, and the Roger De Haan Charitable Trust has again provided support towards the costs of staging the event, as have Shepway District Council and Folkestone Town Council.
This year’s performers include local Sea, Royal Marines, Army and Air Cadets along with local Secondary and Primary Schools, Dance Warehouse, Shepway Brass Academy and the Blue Falcons Gymnastic Display Team. The evening ends in a traditional muster with standards and a short dedication service, followed by a two-minute silence accompanied by a drop of poppies.
Tickets are available at £8.50 (in aid of the RBL Poppy Appeal) from the Leas Cliff Hall box office, either in person or on 01303 228600. The festival has raised over £15,000 since it began.
