Folkestone’s Living Advent Calendar will take place in a range of venues across the town between 1 and 24 December. First held in 2015, this festival of music, drama, dance, opera, storytelling, puppetry and fun is organised by theatre and events company JimJam Arts, whose aim is to involve audiences in arts projects as well as entertain them.  They describe Folkestone Living Advent Calendar is their “biggest project yet”!

At 6pm every evening, starting on Thursday 1 December, a door will open at a different location offering a live performance, each being free to attend. There will also be some surprise items, and collections will take place for worthwhile local charities.

New work has been commissioned from a mixture of up and coming and established professional companies as well as local community groups, and JimJam Arts promises something for all age groups.

There are details of locations and previews of each night’s offering at

The Folkestone Living Advent Calendar has been supported by Arts Council England, The Roger De Haan Charitable Trust, Shepway District Council and Folkestone Town Council, with other partners including Folkestone Quarterhouse and Sunflower House.
